Bringing Accessibility to the Forefront: Amtrak ADA Stations Program
Banton is proud to support Amtrak’s ADA Stations Program, a transformative, multi-year initiative designed to bring over 500 stations into compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Recently, we completed accessibility upgrades at the Westport, NY and Montpelier, VT stations; marking another step toward a more inclusive transportation network.
Our work included heated platforms, ADA-compliant ramps and sidewalks with tactile warning strips, wheelchair lift enclosures, and reconfigured parking areas with clearly designated ADA spaces. These improvements reflect the program’s holistic approach and enhances every aspect of the passenger experience, from arrival to boarding.
This work aligns with a national effort to improve accessibility across Amtrak’s network. As of April 2025, 219 station construction projects have reached completion under the ADA Stations Program, which strategically targets facilities with the most critical compliance deficiencies. Banton is proud to support the development of safe, inclusive transportation infrastructure that meets the needs of all passengers.
