Southport Train Station
Location: |
Southport, Connecticut |

State of Connecticut, Department of Transportation |
Southport’s train station is one of the few remaining original station houses still in use on Metro-North Railroad’s New Haven Line. After a fire gutted the building in 2008, Banton was awarded an emergency contract to mitigate the damages. It was initially feared that the landmark station, originally constructed in the 1890s, would have to be demolished. However, Banton, working closely with the DOT, executed a plan to restore the station to its original condition.
